Day 05 - Bob and Tommy

This was one of my scrapped ideas for my original 30 day draw challenge: Imaginary Friend. I dug up the thumbnail sketch I did and came out with this

Day04 - Meatloaf

Day 02: Brad The Head Monster / Grover

And day 02's character is this adorable little head monster named Brad. He has no friends because he's awkward, and just wants to party with someone.

And here's Grover in an annoyed mobster kind of pose

Day 01: Stanley the Horse/ Cookie Monster

Stanley the horse always wanted to be a cow when he was growing up. It was a feeling he learned to repress throughout his life... until he began a mid-life crisis...

Cookie Monster Post-it! I know...I know...these arn't going to look too great. Their more of warm up exercises and ideas I can maybe make finished pieces out of at a later time.

Dear God! More Draw Challenges!?!?

So. keeping the productivity train moving along, November brings more draw challenges. Originally me and Trevor had planned a Muppets draw-a-thon leading up to the movie coming out on the 23rd. However, it came to out attention that Comix Tribe was hosting a 30 Day Character draw challenge in November. People register and whip out a new character everyday of November. We couldn't miss out and so we're doing both challenges. I however am not as brave as Trevor and am making 30Characters my primary goal, and Muppets into a secondary (More of a warm up) Post-it sketch challenge. Here's the muppet list:

cookiemonster
Grover
Bert and Ernie
Big bird
Guy Smiley
Oscar the Grouch
Sweetums
Lew Zealand
Crazy Harry
Muppet newsman
Sam the Eagle
Swedish Chef
Statler and Waldorf
Pepe
Rizzo
Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem
Scooter
Bunsen and Beaker
Rowlf
Gonzo
Fozzie
Miss Piggy
Kermit the frog

I'll be posting my 30Characters stuff here and on the official 30Characters website. Worth checking out. Got some great artists and styles popping up so far. http://www.30characters.com/

*sigh*.....pray for my drawing hand....

Day 14/15: What Scares Me/ Favorite Halloween Memory

So, these are a bit late as I went out to Detroit for the weekend to see Gwar (which was a fantastic concert!), and wasn't able to draw. Something that scares me. The dentist. I've built up quite the tolerance to a lot of creepy stuff but going to the dentist is something I've always had an incredibly hard time handling even to this day. I have little panic attacks every time I go. Dentists are all evil people that are out to get you. Be afraid...

I love Halloween and have so many great memories. But the greatest feeling in the world was that feeling of coming home and pouring the mountain of candy out on the floor. Though, that great feeling was always short lived because it was always followed by having to wait for your parents to make sure some jerk didn't put an AK-47 in your tootsie rolls. Happy Halloween!

Day 13: Vampire

So! As I was posting this file I realized that the vampire on the right looks identical to the plants vs zombie character. Whoops. My subconscious screws me once again! I promise that wasn't intentional I was actually kinda going for more Nosferatu lookin' critters. Also, I'd like to thank John Kedzie for the "allergic reaction to garlic" idea :D I miss him dearly and wish he was still among us...once again, he's not dead, he just moved to California.

Day 12: Zombie

Pretty happy with how this turned out considering the sketch was done on a post-it, and normally I spend the majority of the time of a drawing on the sketch. Here's the original below.

Day 09: Devil

So after listening to good ol' metal all day at work I decided to go less creepy with today's drawing and more like old school metal album art. I've always loved the art on the covers of Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Megadeth, Motorhead, and a bunch of others so I referenced a lot of those. Lightning, tidal waves, and demons are apparently a must have, then I made it more cartoony because thats just something I enjoy doing.

Day 08: Ghost

Day 07: Monster

Ever since middle school, the majority of the things I draw are disgusting monster things because I still find it incredibly fun to do. This felt great because it was the first time since I started this challenge that I could actually relax, put some music on, and take my time with the drawing. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same with the upcoming days.

Day 03: Freddy Kreuger

Probably my favorite horror movie bad guy from some of my favorite movies. Had a lot of fun with this one

Monday, October 17, 2011

Day 02: Jason

So, today's drawing was a little rushed due to a bunch of stuff keeping me busy throughout the day. I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome though.

Day 01: Pinhead

Wow, pinhead is really annoying to draw. This is me trying to get back into the groove of things. Im pretty satisfied with the outcome and it this seemed like a good one to hype myself up for the rest of this challenge. Also, I promise to try and push the gore in these more and more as I go along :)

Don't Pet The Sheep

So, after posting my last post I realized I couldn't pass up the opportunity to draw this. I also realized a Flesh colored copic really just means "weird orange." Lesson learned

Pickin' Pumpkins

Went to a pumpkin patch last week with the girlfriend. It was fun. We got to pet sheep. Have you ever pet a sheep before!? its weird. Its fur sucks in your hand like a vortex.

all work and no draw challenges make jack a dull boy

Yes, here we go again. It's that super awesome scary time of year and so, Trevor has written up a Halloween themed list that we plan to tackle as our next draw challenge.

1-Pinhead
2-Jason
3-Freddy
4-Clown
5-Jack o Lantern
6-Mummy
7-Monster
8-Ghost
9-Devil
10-Witch
11-Wereworlf
12-Zombie
13-Vampire
14-Something that scares you
15- Favorite Halloween Memory

I'm really looking forward to this one as I'm a really big fan of creepy, scary, gory stuff. This will begin on October 16th and end on Halloween. It's also a nice shift from the Gotham Challenge (which I had a blast with!) to do less fan art and have more freedom.

Busy Nights & Quality Time- Ink/color

Hello all! I've been kind of hiding out for awhile since the Batman Challenge, recharging my brain. Been keeping busy though, and have been cooking up some new challenges coming soon. Til then here's a finished version of a sketch I posted back in July of me and the girlfriend. Hope to post some more stuff soon.

Day 25: Scarecrow

Scarecrow! My favorite villain! I was so excited to draw him that I actually started sketching him 3 days ago. And I almost didn't think I'd finish today once I started the inking process because I realized how much longer it was going to take than I had thought. All in all I think it went well.

Day 24: The Riddler

"Are you ready for some more? Explore! Find my challenges! And when you fail to solve them and lie blubbering like an ignorant child on the floor, you will know, that the Riddler, is better than you." - The Riddler, AKA Edward Nigma

Day 19: Two-Face

This version of two-face, like alot of my drawings so far, is heavily influenced by Batman The Animated Series.
